tonight, two of the sweetest people i have ever met, (and certainly the sweetest boys i have every met) got married. they moved to iowa specifically because they loved each other and knew they needed to be together forever and our wonderful state agreed. that is just the most adorable fucking thing i have ever known.
i have never been so proud to be an iowan, as cheesy as that sounds. in a country that will let kim kardashian enjoy the “sanctity of marriage” for 72 days, i’m glad that these wonderful boys also get to enjoy those same privileges. on the night that many iowans were caucusing on behalf of hate and close mindedness, we were the happiest group around.

nothing says happy new year like some fizzy juice, a shot of whiskey, and a bunch of insultingly small tips. at least the juice was good. things can only look up from here! happy new year friends!

tonight was the gyro stands thanksgiving celebration. i said i would make pies. originally i was gonna make one pumpkin pie and one sweet potato pie. then i started to worry about people that maybe don’t like orange pies. so i decided to make a pecan pie. then i started to worry that maybe EVERYONE would ONLY like pumpkin pie, so i decided to make a second pumpkin pie. then i started to worry that devin would feel left out, since he wasn’t coming, so i decided to make a second sweet potato pie to leave at home for the three of us to eat later. so i made five pies. then i started to worry for the briefest of seconds that there would be too much pie. that was a foolish thought. we destroyed those pies and this is what is left.
lots of my friends all together tonight made me pretty happy. i keep saying that i’m going to stop spending so much time sitting on my bed hanging out with the internet and spend more time with my iowa friends before i get up and move again, but i think this week i will start actually doing that. so i guess what i’m saying is, if any of you want to watch bridesmaids for the 100th time, drink fancy lady drinks and eat leftover pie with me, just bring over some more cool whip…

you can tell fall is here when gus starts spending all of his time burrowing into my blankets.
hey friends! (aka mom) it’s been awhile. i have an excuse. but don’t get excited, cause it’s not an interesting one. i work every single day. work work work. if i’m not in seattle by march, it better be cause i’ve bought an island or something…
so lets talk about something else. like this great lamp jenny gifted me! my room needed this, the ceiling light is way too harsh. yea hangy light!

AND i’ve started my halloween costume. right now it just looks like a pile of chicken wire, but i’ve got big plans…

and now i’m gonna go make some cocoa. happy fall!
